A while back i kinda felt lonely although surrounded by community. In an instant it was dropped in my spirit that there are many like me – surrounded by people but just misunderstood and that i should maybe make an effort to understand them in order to get to know myself and that I am loved by a Creator. I have this friend who tries to capture the unseen people of this world. It kinda inspired me to embark on a journey to “love a person a day” – to go deeper than what the eye meets. To acknowledge people and try to understand them.
This is day 1 and this is my friend Sello, 3 kids, 3 sugars in his coffee & just like me believes in the power of 3.
Today i learned “to know how to love someone, we have to understand them. To understand, we need to listen. The more you understand, the more you love; the more you love, the more you understand. When our hearts are small, our understanding and compassion are limited, and we suffer. We can’t accept or tolerate others and their shortcomings, and we demand that they change. But when our hearts expand, these same things don’t make us suffer anymore. We have a lot of understanding and compassion and can embrace others. We accept others as they are, and then they have a chance to transform…”
…and hopefully acknowledging the “misunderstood” daily – will transform me too!
In a effort to maintain my blog and keep myself accountable in telling my story I will try to more frequently update the “A little love a day” stories too – it’s just that when you in the moment you sometimes forget to take a photo.
